Pale Old Fashioned

This drink was developed in partnership with One Eight Distilling, an excellent new distillery in Ivy City off of New York Ave.  Their Rock Creek White Whiskey does an excellent job of highlighting the tastes of their ingredients and the corresponding terroir.  When you take a sip, you can taste the earthy rye and just a hint of soft corn, all very well integrated into a spirit with an impeccable mouthfeel.

When we first tasted the Rock Creek White Whiskey, we were so taken aback by its depth and complexity that we knew it was destined to make a great Old Fashioned with our aromatic bitters.  Check out the recipe below for our take on this classic cocktail using handcrafted bitters and District-made white whiskey.

-2 oz Rock Creek White Whiskey

-0.5 oz ginger-infused simple syrup

-Several dashes Embitterment Aromatic Bitters

  1. Combine the simple syrup, whiskey, and bitters in rocks glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir for 15-20 seconds. Garnish with orange peel and enjoy.
